2017 - 2026 Details Project

Details is an ongoing project consisting of photography, moving image, and installation. Inspired by overlooked marks, patterns, and signs of weathering, the work isolates fragments of the built environment and everyday experience from their original contexts. Through extreme cropping, abstraction, repetition, and reassembly, familiar subjects become difficult to identify, shifting attention from what is depicted to how meaning is constructed.

The still photographs transform ordinary details encountered in passing into abstract compositions. The Instax installations dissect individual still photographs into 121 component photographs that are reassembled on the wall, encouraging viewers to move between the experience of the image as a whole and as a collection of fragments. The moving image works extend these concerns through duration, motion, and sound, transforming recordings into layered studies of perception, memory, and transition.
